Ingredients
  

  • 12 lb Whole turkey thawed
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter softened
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp Black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 Onion quartered
  • 1 Lemon halved
  • 4 sprigs Fresh thyme
  • 2 cups Chicken broth low-sodium

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
  • Pat the turkey dry with paper towels and place it breast-side up in a roasting pan.
    12 lb Whole turkey
  • Rub the turkey with softened butter and olive oil, then season generously with kosher salt and black pepper, inside and out.

  • Place the onion, lemon, and thyme sprigs inside the turkey cavity.

  • Pour chicken broth into the bottom of the roasting pan.
    2 cups Chicken broth
  • Roast the turkey for 3-4 hours, basting every 30 minutes with pan juices, until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh reads 165°F (74°C).
  • Remove from oven, cover loosely with foil, and let rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.

Notes
