Oven-Roasted Turkey

A juicy and flavorful oven-roasted turkey, perfect for festive gatherings.

Ingredients
- 12 lb Whole turkey thawed
- 1 cup Unsalted butter softened
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- 2 tbsp Kosher salt
- 1 tbsp Black pepper freshly ground
- 1 Onion quartered
- 1 Lemon halved
- 4 sprigs Fresh thyme
- 2 cups Chicken broth low-sodium
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Pat the turkey dry with paper towels and place it breast-side up in a roasting pan.12 lb Whole turkey
- Rub the turkey with softened butter and olive oil, then season generously with kosher salt and black pepper, inside and out.1 cup Unsalted butter, 2 tbsp Olive oil, 2 tbsp Kosher salt, 1 tbsp Black pepper
- Place the onion, lemon, and thyme sprigs inside the turkey cavity.1 Onion, 1 Lemon, 4 sprigs Fresh thyme
- Pour chicken broth into the bottom of the roasting pan.2 cups Chicken broth
- Roast the turkey for 3-4 hours, basting every 30 minutes with pan juices, until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh reads 165°F (74°C).
- Remove from oven, cover loosely with foil, and let rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
Notes
For best results, brine the turkey overnight before roasting to enhance flavor and moisture.
