Black Forest Cake

A German classic with chocolate cake, cherries, and whipped cream.
Ingredients
- 2 cup All-purpose flour sifted
- 1.5 cup Granulated sugar
- 0.5 cup Cocoa powder unsweetened
- 1 cup Pitted cherries canned or fresh
- 3 Large eggs
- 0.5 cup Butter melted
- 2 tbsp Kirsch
- 1 tsp Baking powder
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch cake pans.

- Beat eggs, sugar, and butter until smooth.1.5 cup Granulated sugar, 3 Large eggs, 0.5 cup Butter
- Fold in dry ingredients, divide batter between pans, and bake for 35-40 minutes.
- Brush cooled cakes with kirsch, then layer with cherries and whipped cream.1 cup Pitted cherries, 2 tbsp Kirsch
- Decorate with chocolate shavings.
Notes
Fresh cherries enhance flavor.
