Gnocchi with Tomato and Basil Sauce

Soft potato gnocchi in a rich tomato and basil sauce.
Ingredients
Gnocchi
- 1 lb potato gnocchi store-bought or homemade
Sauce
- 1 can crushed tomatoes 28 oz
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 0.25 cup fresh basil chopped
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 0.25 cup parmesan cheese grated, for serving
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pan, sauté onion and garlic until soft.
- Add crushed tomatoes, simmer for 15 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Boil gnocchi in salted water until they float, about 2-3 minutes, then drain.
- Stir basil into the tomato sauce, then toss gnocchi in the sauce.
- Serve with grated parmesan cheese.
Notes
Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
